Getting there

Wondering where on earth you are going? This should help.

Getting to Aberfeldy

There are many options for transport to/from Aberfeldy both private and public.

Although public transport takes slightly longer, it is very comfortable and is usually our preferred method of travel when we are back in Scotland. It would involve a combination of train + bus or taxi. Of note, Lyft/Uber is not readily available in smaller Scottish towns so we recommend calling ahead to the local taxi company if you would prefer that over a bus.

Also feel free to ask for assistance at the train station or from the bus drivers, in our experience everyone is very friendly and helpful!

Public transport: 2-3 hrs

From Edinburgh: Take the train from Edinburgh, Waverley Station to Pitlochry then bus or taxi to Aberfeldy.

From Glasgow: Take the train from Queen Street Station to Pitlochry then bus or taxi to Aberfeldy.

Check Google maps or the train timetables closer to the date for the most up-to-date schedule and route options.

Taxi options:

Car rental: 1.5-2 hrs.

  • If you are comfortable driving on the left side of the road (for Americans!) rent a car at EDI (Edinburgh) or GLA (Glasgow) and drive to Aberfeldy. This could be particularly helpful if you are planning to travel around Scotland before/after the wedding, although public transport is also very good for connections to larger cities.

Private car hire: 1.5-2hrs.

  • If you would like to hire a private car to drive you or a group to Aberfeldy there are a number of companies that you can research to arrange transport from either Edinburgh or Glasgow.
